Indian Railways enhances maximum train speed to 130 km per hour on GD-GQ route

Indian Railways has achieved a major landmark by enhancing the maximum train speed to 130 km per hour on the Golden Quadrilateral-Golden Diagonal (GQ-GD) route. The new speed has been achieved for 1,280 km route length out of the total 1,612 km long GQ-GD. It covers the entire GQ-GD route of the South-central Railway, barring the Vijayawada-Duvvada section, where signalling upgradation work is underway. Indian Railways utilised the lockdown period and low train movement due to the Covid-19 pandemic to complete the required infrastructure upgradation work.
