Major Port Authorities Act, 2021 made effective on November 03, 2021

The Major Port Authorities Act, 2021 has been made effective November 3, 2021, as per a notification from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Wa­ter­ways (MoPSW). Subsequently, the name of the Mumbai Port Trust will be changed to Mumbai Port Authority. The Major Port Authorities Act will give major port authorities more autonomy and flexibility, as well as professionalise their governance, administration, control and management.
