World Bank approves loan for implementation of various infrastructure projects in Ahmedabad

The World Bank has approved a loan worth Rs 10 billion as the first instalment for the implementation of various infrastructure projects in Ahmedabad. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) had applied for a soft loan worth Rs 30 billion from the World Bank. The projects, being implemented by AMC, involve the development of new sewage treatment plants (STPs) of 342 mld capacity; upgradation of five STPs from 712 mld to 978 mld capacity; a storm water drainage project; rehabilitation of existing sewers; the Kharicut canal and lake development project; and development of three tertiary treatment plants of 120 mld capacity.
