Solar power tariff records an all-time low of Rs 1.99 per unit

Solar power tariffs have dropped to an all-time low of Rs 1.99 per unit in an auction of 500 MW of projects by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). NTPC Limited (200 MW), Torrent Power (100 MW), Saudi Arabian firm Al Jomaih Energy and Water Co. (80 MW) and Aditya Birla Renewable (120 MW) emerged as the lowest bidders. Earlier, in November 2020, the tariffs had dropped to a record low of Rs 2 per unit in an auction for 1,070 MW of projects conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India.
