RVNL commissions Marathwada Rail Coach Factory

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited has commissioned the Marathwada Rail Coach Factory in Latur, Maharashtra, despite the nationwide lockdown. The factory has started production of the first coach shell. It has been designed with an initial capacity of manufacturing 250 mainline electric multiple unit/electric multiple unit/Linke Hofmann Busch-type advance coaches annually. The project entailed a total investment of Rs 6.2 billion (including cost of land). The factory has been established on 350 acres of land with 52,000 square metres of pre-engineered building sheds, a three-line yard, an electric substation with 33 kV supply, a canteen, security and administrative blocks and a residential colony on 24 acres. The factory is expected to manufacture more coach shells and fully furnished train units in the future.
