MoRTH year-end review

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has come up with a year-end review of the road sector. The length of national highways has increased from 91,287 km in April 2014 to about 136,155 km as of December 20, 2020. The rate of road development has increased significantly from 11.7 km in 2013-14 to 28 km at present. During 2020-21 (up to November 2020), about 6,764 km of national highways have been awarded, while about 6,207 km have been constructed by the ministry. During 2019-20, road projects of about 8,948 km length were awarded and 10,237 km of roads were completed. During the current year, the ministry has already incurred an expenditure of Rs 794.15 billion as of November 2020. Besides, private investment of Rs 81.86 billion has been achieved up to November 2020.
