IR registers increased freight loading in December

Indian Railways (IR) registered freight loading of 118.13 mt in December 2020, 8.54 per cent higher than the freight loading in the corresponding period of the previous year (108.84 mt). Further, the revenue generated from freight loading stands at Rs 117.88 billion, 6.87 per cent (Rs 7.57 billion) higher than the revenue generated from freight loading in the corresponding period of the previous year (Rs 110.3 billion). The freight loading includes 50.67 mt coal, 15.31 mt iron ore, 6.13 mt foodgrains, 5.23 mt fertilisers, 4.3 mt mineral oil, 7.46 mt cement (excluding clinker) and 29.03 mt other goods. The pandemic has provided IR an opportunity to improve all-round efficiency and performance.
