Gujarat announces new solar power policy 2021

The Gujarat government has announced the state’s new solar power policy, which will be effective from 2021 to 2025. The policy offers multiple incentives to reduce the share of coal-based power and move towards green energy. Among other highlights, it has removed the ceiling on installed capacity and allowed consumers to lease their premises or roofs to third parties for setting up plants to generate and consume power on the same premises. As per the new policy, the Gujarat government will purchase the surplus energy from residential and micro, small and medium enterprises at a tariff of Rs 2.25 per unit.
