The Indian shipping industry reported a fleet of 1,453 vessels of 12.95 million gross tonnage (GT) and 19.6 million dead weight tonnage (DWT). Of the total vessels, 988 were coastal vessels with a tonnage of 1.62 million GT (1.77 million DWT) and 465 were overseas vessels of 11.33 million GT (17.83 million DWT).
