MoPSW issues draft guidelines for floating jetties for public consultation

The MoPSW issued draft guidelines for floating jetties for harbours, marinas and fish landing facilities for public consultation on December 4, 2020. The development comes in light of the increasing congestion at fishing harbours. The ministry intends to promote the use of floating jetties for various uses along the Indian coastline. Further, harbour authorities too are generally in favour of floating jetties, not only on the grounds of lower cost, but also because they do not require any form of permanent construction on the seabed, can be easily moved or removed in case of a need to reconfigure the port, and have a negligible impact on the environment.
