The Supreme Court has approved the formulation drafted by the DGCA to refund passengers for cancelled tickets during the lockdown. Airlines will have the option of creating a credit shell in the name of the passenger that can be availed of for travel on any route before March 31, 2021. The credit shell will be transferable and interest will accrue on money in the credit shell. The interest rate will be 0.5 per cent from the date of cancellation till June 30, 2020 and 0.75 per cent thereafter till March 31, 2021.
