SCR transports commercial vehicles through railways

In a notable development, South Central Railway (SCR) has transported automobile vehicles, mini trucks and commercial vehicles via railways for the first time. The movement of vehicles was from Zahirabad railway station to Jirania station in Tripura. Further, Zahirabad station is evolving into a preferred station for loading automobiles as compared to Secunderabad division. Till now, the station has loaded 10 automobile rakes in the current fiscal year as compared to 2019-20, when it loaded only one rake. As advised by the Ministry of Railways (MoR), special focus is being given to increase freight traffic.
