The Standing Committee of the MCGM approved the Mithi river rejuvenation project on November 25, 2020. The project is being jointly executed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and MCGM in Maharashtra as 11.84 km of the Mithi river falls under the jurisdiction of the MCGM while 6 km falls under the MMRDA. It is being developed in four parts between Airport Taxi Bridge in Kurla, Ashok Nagar in Andheri, MTNL Junction at the Bandra Kurla Complex and Filterpada on the Powai stretch of the river. The scope of work includes widening of the river, diversion of drainage lines, construction of a retaining wall and service roads along its sides for accessibility.
