The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has released standard specifications for the implementation of Metro Neo projects. Metro Neo is suitable for mass transit corridors with a peak hour, peak direction traffic of up to 8,000 passengers with AW3 loading. It will have a dedicated path separating road traffic from the Metro Neo lane. The right of way will be 8 metres for both lanes combined. The traction system will be 750 V DC overhead equipment with overhead twin, positive and negative contact wires placed in parallel. Currently, Metro Neo projects are being planned in Nashik in Maharashtra and Warangal in Telangana.
