In a first, AirAsia India has added an Airbus A320neo to its fleet. The aircraft arrived in New Delhi on October 21, 2020, from Airbus’s production facility in Toulouse, France. The A320neo is a 186-seater aircraft fitted with LEAP-1A engines by CFM International and has large, fuel-saving wingtip devices known as sharklets. It offers nearly 50 per cent reduction in noise footprint compared to previous-generation aircraft as well as greater efficiency. The key benefits include a 20 per cent reduction in fuel consumption, a similar reduction in emissions and lower maintenance costs.
