AAI plans 100 airports under regional air connectivity scheme

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is planning to develop at least 100 airports, waterdromes and heliports by 2024 under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS). The scheme is aimed at providing affordable, economically viable and profitable air travel on regional routes. Development of 14 more water aerodromes is being planned pan-India. AAI and MoCA had earlier requested the Inland Waterways Authority of India to conduct a hydrographic survey and have also requested for assistance in setting up jetties for facilitating passenger movement.
