The Mission Bhagiratha Water Grid Project was initiated by the Telangana government to provide safe drinking water through the pipeline to every household in the rural and urban areas. It aims to provide 100 litres of clean drinking water per person in rural households and 150 litres per person in urban households to about 25,000 rural habitations and 67 urban habitations. So far, more than 96 per cent of the work has been completed on the project. The government has achieved the targeted bulk supply of water to 23,968 habitations, and completed the targeted 5,559,172 household connections simultaneously. In all, 113 water treatment plants are pumping 4,109 mld of water to these households. Besides, 18,125 overhead tanks have been built out of the targeted 18,795 overhead storage reservoirs under the project.
