In October 2019, the Andhra Pradesh government launched an ambitious project to provide drinking water connections to every household in the state by 2022. The project aims to supply drinking water to 46,982 rural area habitations and 99 urban area habitations. The water grid scheme will be implemented in two phases, at an investment of about Rs 374.75 billion and Rs 92 billion for the first and the second phases respectively. The grid will provide 1,418.49 mld of water to about 110 ULBs in the state. The state government has decided to seek ADB’s assistance for the project.
