In one of the big-ticket public sector investments, NTPC Limited in a 74:26 JV with the Jharkhand state utility is implementing the 3×800 MW Patratu coal-based power project in Ramgarh district, Jharkhand. About 85 per cent of the power from the project will be supplied to the state. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited is the main contractor for the plant. Unit 1 is expected to be commissioned in March 2022, Unit 2 in September 2022 and Unit 3 in March 2023. With the commissioning of the project, the old fleet of subcritical units installed at Patratu will be phased out.
