As one of the strategically important hydropower projects in border areas, the PakalDul HEP (1,000 MW) is being developed in Kishtwar district of Kashmir by Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited, a JV company of NHPC Limited, Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation and PTC (India) Limited. The project is part of the Prime Minister’s Development Package for Jammu & Kashmir. Currently, activities at the project site are under way and the contract for electromechanical works has been awarded. The project is expected to be commissioned by December 2025.
