The 1,980 MW (3×660 MW) Ghatampur project marks public major NLC India’s first thermal power venture outside Tamil Nadu. Being implemented by Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited, a JV of NLC India and Uttar Pradesh RajyaVidyutUtpadan Nigam Limited with a 51:49 equity participation, the supercritical project entails an investment of Rs 172 billion, of which Rs 95 billion has been incurred so far. The Pachwara South coal block has been allocated to meet the fuel requirement of the project. The order for equipment has been placed with L&T-MHPS and Alstom-Bharat Forge Power Limited. The project’s Unit 1 is expected to be commissioned in November 2020, Unit 2 in May 2021 and Unit 3 in November 2021.
