Kerala government approves the DPR for semi-high speed rail corridor project

The Kerala government granted approval to the detailed project report (DPR) of the Kerala semi-high speed rail corridor project (Silver Line) on June 10, 2020. The project, which will be implemented by Kerala Rail Development Corporation Limited, involves the construction of 529.45 km long third and fourth rail lines between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod at an estimated cost of Rs 639.41 billion. The DPR will now be submitted to the MoR, NITI Aayog and the union cabinet for further approvals. Work on the project is expected to be completed by 2025.
