IR partially resumes passenger services with operation of 200 special trains

IR has partially resumed passenger train services after a gap of over two months on account of the countrywide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Around 200 special trains commenced operations on June 1, 2020. These trains are in addition to already operational 30 Rajdhani-like special trains and Shramik special trains. The government has laid down strict guidelines for travel by these trains. All passengers will be screened before they board the train and only those who are asymptomatic will be allowed to travel. Besides, the Ministry of Railways (MoR) has also made it mandatory for passengers to wear face masks and install the AarogyaSetu mobile app.
