Domestic flight operations resumed on May 25, 2020

After nearly two months of being shut down, flight operations resumed in a calibrated manner on May 25, 2020. However, uncertainty and chaos was witnessed at airports as airlines, following last-minute instructions from the government, cancelled nearly half the flights that were supposed to depart. The cancellations were on the back of the government trimming down the scheduled flight operations from the original schedule. Operations have been resumed on the basis of a slew of conditions. The general rules include green status declared on the AarogyaSetu app or a mandatory disclosure of health-related information on a declaration form. At the airport, passengers are required to report two hours prior to the scheduled departure and must check in online. The facility of tele-check-in is also being provided. Besides, only one piece of checked-in baggage is allowed. Wearing a face mask has been made mandatory for all passengers. With the new guidelines, the flying experience will also change significantly. In-flight meals are not permitted and water bottles will be available on seats or in the gallery area. Cabin crew will be in full protective gear.
