NHAI to rank roads for quality service

In an effort to improve the quality of roads, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to undertake performance assessment and ranking of highways in the country. The assessment audit and ranking of national highways is aimed at taking corrective steps wherever needed to improve quality and provide a higher level of service to highway commuters. The assessment parameters are based on different international practices and studies for benchmarking highway performance in the Indian context. In addition, important parameters such as operating speed, access control, time taken at toll plazas, accident rate, and availability of advanced traffic management system, among others, will also be considered while conducting the assessment.
