The Maharashtra government granted approval for the Nagpur-Nagbhid railway gauge conversion project on June 25, 2020. The project involves the conversion of the 116.5 km Nagpur-Nagbhid narrow gauge railway line to broad gauge at an estimated cost of Rs 9.22 billion. It will help in boosting freight and passenger traffic on the section and will facilitate improved transportation of coal from nearby mines.
