IR completes 200 long-pending projects during COVID-19 lockdown

IR has managed to complete 200 delayed projects during the lockdown period. While the completion of these projects during normal times would have required full or partial shutdown of key railway routes, the suspension of passenger services during the lockdown has allowed IR to successfully execute the projects without affecting train services. The works undertaken include rebuilding and rehabilitation of 82 bridges, construction of 48 limited height subways and road underbridges in place of level crossing gates, development and strengthening of 16 foot overbridges (FoBs), dismantling of 14 old FoBs and remodelling of five yards. Besides, doubling and electrification works for the Kachhwa Road-Madhosingh and Manduadih-Prayagraj rail sections have also been completed.
