Cochin International Airport Limited has installed the CAT III lighting system to enhance visual acuity and provide guidance to pilots during final approach and landing. It has been installed at a cost of Rs 360 million. With this, Cochin airport has become the second airport in south India, after the Bengaluru International Airport, to install one of the most advanced aeronautical ground lighting systems.
