The Commissioner of Railway Safety has conducted the safety inspection of the 33 km Lachyan-Hotgi section of the Hotgi-Kudgi-Gadag line doubling project. However, the section has not yet been commissioned as the yard remodelling works could not be completed due to the COVID-19 lockdown. The project, being implemented by South Western Railway, involves doubling of the Hotgi-Kudgi-Gadag railway line covering a length of 284 km at an investment of Rs 19.6 billion.
