Indian major ports traffic decline by 22.16 per cent during April-May

During the first two months (April-May) of the ongoing fiscal year 2020-21, Indian major ports handled 92.82 mt of traffic, as compared to 119.24 mt in the corresponding period of 2019-20, registering a decline of 22.16 per cent. Deendayal port handled the maximum traffic at 17.19 mt, followed by Paradip port (16.1 mt) and Visakhapatnam port (9.95 mt). Traffic handled at the major ports has been severely impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In terms of growth, all the major ports registered a decline except for the Mormugao and New Mangalore ports.
