HC suspends appointment of new contractor for Brahmapuram WtE Plant

The Kerala High Court has suspended the appointment of a new contractor for the implementation of the Brahmapuram municipal solid waste-to-energy (WtE) project. This followed the petition filed by GJ Eco Power Private Limited challenging the Kochi Corporation’s order of terminating the contract. The project involves the development of a municipal solid WtE plant at the Brahmapuram campus of the Kochi Corporation in Kerala. A total of 300 tonnes per day (tpd) of waste will be treated under the project and about 10 MW of electricity is likely to be generated from it.
