Over 80 per cent aircraft fleet of Indian carriers parked at six major airports

The ban imposed by the government on flight operations in the country has resulted in about 80 per cent of the civilian aircraft being parked at the top six airports in the country. According to reports, airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai together have 538 aircraft parked in their bays. Indian carriers have a total of 650 aircraft at present. Meanwhile, reports suggest that about 30 aircraft have been pressed into service for ferrying cargo as well as to operate special flights.
