The Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House (JNCH) has issued a circular prescribing the procedure to be followed for the scanning of containers selected for scanning, via public notice no. 40/2020. As per public notice no. 12/2019, AEO (authorised economic operator)-T1 certified importers availing direct port delivery who wish to use their own transport for evacuation of containers selected for scanning at a drive-through scanner (DTS) are required to submit a bond equivalent to the value of the goods for each consignment at the Customs Boarding Office, making them responsible for the safety and security of the cargo in addition to the revenue involved while transporting containers from JNCH terminals to the DTS site.
