IR halts all passenger services during the nation-wide lockdown

Indian Railways (IR) has suspended all passenger services during the 21-day nationwide lockdown till May 3, 2020 to control the spread of the coronavirus outbreak. The suspension includes all suburban train services. However, freight movement is allowed for carrying essential commodities across the country. The Railway Board has also issued instructions to all production units to assess the feasibility of manufacturing items such as hospital beds and medical trolleys for hospitals, and offering quarantine facilities.
