The central government has inaugurated five projects at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) – a mobile X-ray container scanner facility at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT), a 220/333 kV mobile unit substation (MUSS) at the JNPT yard, a new centralised parking plaza and buildings for container tractor trailers, a customs facilitation centre, and a flyover at Y Junction near the public utility building. The container scanner facility at JNPCT has a design capacity to scan 20 containers per hour. The MUSS was inaugurated with state-of-the-art 220 kV and 33 kV gas-insulated switchgear deployed to have the maximum power reliability. Besides, the 830 metre long flyover at Y Junction is expected to help in faster evacuation of cargo and avoid the criss-crossing of the Gateway Terminals India’s outbound container traffic with northbound containers for the Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal, JNPCT and Nhava Sheva (India) Gateway Terminal.
