WABAG secures five-year O&M contract in Madinat Salman STP in Bahrain

VA TECH WABAG, a leading pure-play water technology Indian multinational, has secured a BD 4.5 million (about Rs 900 million) order for the operation and maintenance (O&M), and management of the Madinat Salman sewage treatment plant (STP) and long sea outfall. The contract has been awarded by the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning (MoW) of the Kingdom of Bahrain on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis for a period of five years.

The EPC contract for the project was awarded in October 2015 and the project has a capacity of 40 million litres per day. It was awarded to cater to a population of about 100,000. The project was funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. The EPC project cost was approximately BD 34.74 million. The project was successfully completed on October 31, 2018, after which WABAG has been operating and maintaining the plant till date for the MoW.
