Reportedly, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is planning to issue tenders for projects spanning 3,000 km on the BOT model soon. The government plans to increase the national highway network from 96,000 km to about 0.2 million km. Besides, the ministry is planning to make precast roads wherein three Indian Institutes of Technology will handle the technology for construction of roads, bridges and tunnels.
