With over three and a half decades of experience in planning, evaluation, development, contract administration, and operation and management of projects across several core infrastructure sectors, T.R. Rao. is currently a director at PNC Infratech Limited, a leading infrastructure development and construction company.

Rao’s vast project implementation experience spans across sectors including highways, expressways, airports, ports and urban transport and infrastructure. He has 15 and 20 years of experience, respectively, in the public and private sectors. He has also worked extensively on structuring projects with different implementation formats under the public-private partnership model.

He joined PNC Infratech as executive vice president, infrastructure, in 2014 and was elevated to the company’s board as a whole-time director in August 2019. In his current role, he is responsible for business development, contract administration, operation and management of projects, and techno-legal matters of the company. He also acts as a director in six subsidiaries of PNC Infratech and Indian Highway Management Company Limited, which implements electronic tolling in the country under the aegis of National Highways Authority of India.

Prior to joining PNC Infratech, he has worked with Srei Infrastructure Finance Limited as senior vice president, at IIDC as vice president and at RITES as deputy general manager. He was also the chief executive officer of a venture capital fund and a trust in the IT sector, jointly owned by the Andhra Pradesh government, the Small Industries Development Bank of India and Srei. He has several international assignments to his credit in countries such as Nepal, Botswana, Singapore and Thailand.

His natural versatility, multisectoral experience and insights in project finance make him an infrastructure professional with a deep understanding of delivering projects along with fulfilling corporate aspirations. He is excited about the opportunities that may emanate from the National Infrastructure Pipeline that the government unveiled recently.

Rao is a civil engineering graduate and has a master’s degree in planning from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, with a specialisation in transportation. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in construction management. On the personal front, he is a nature-loving and a spiritually inclined person. His wife is a homemaker and they have two daughters.
