State grants approval for construction of Mohali WtE plant by NTPC

The Punjab government has granted approval for the construction and operation of the Mohali waste-to-energy (WtE) plant by NTPC Limited. The agreement for the project is expected to be signed between the Mohali Municipal Corporation (MMC) and NTPC soon. Meanwhile, the Mohali district administration has handed over 40 acres of land to MMC. The project involves the development of a 7 MW WtE plant at Samgauli village in Mohali district in Punjab. It will generate power from 600 tonnes per day of waste collected from Patiala and Mohali and is being implemented by MMC on a BOTbasis under the public-private partnership model.
