Railway Board commissions survey to establish cross-border rail link between India and Bhutan

A survey has been commissioned by the Railway Board to establish the Munjai-Nyoenpaling railway line in a bid to provide a cross-border rail link between India and Bhutan. Apart from this, the north-eastern part of India will be connected to Bangladesh with the completion of the Agartala-Akhaura rail line, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2021 and the first train between the two countries is likely to be flagged off in 2022.
