Chennai Corporation and KfW sign loan agreement for Kovalam basin expansion under the integrated SWD project

The Corporation of Chennai (CoC) and KfW Development Bank signed a loan agreement worth Rs 12.85 billion for Kovalam basin expansion under the integrated storm water drainage project for the expanded areas of Chennai Corporation on March 3, 2020. The Kovalam basin expansion is being undertaken in three packages – M1, M2 and M3. M1 involves areas around the Pallikaranai marshland, M2 involves areas near the South Buckingham Canal and M3 involves coastal areas beyond Thiruvanmiyur. The project involves planning and designing of storm water drainage networks in four drainage basins – Kosasthalaiyar, Cooum, Adyar and Kovalam – in Tamil Nadu at an investment of Rs 42.25 billion.
