In a significant development, the Recycling of Ships Bill, 2019, for safe and environmentally sound recycling of ships became an act after receiving the President of India’s consent. In addition, the government has decided to accede to the Hong Kong International Convention for Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships, 2009.
