Railways to install video surveillance system at 983 railway stations to enhance safety

The MoR plans to install internet protocol-based video surveillance systems (VSS) at railway stations to improve safety. The intelligent surveillance system will use video analytics and facial recognition features to monitor and track suspicious activities across stations, including waiting halls, reservation counters, parking areas and others. The Railway Board has approved the installation of the system at 983 stations across the country. Around Rs 2.5 billion has been allocated to IR under the Nirbhaya Fund for deployment of VSS.
