Centre signs $490 million loan agreement with ADB to upgrade roads in Madhya Pradesh

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the central government have signed a $490 million loan for the public-private partnership (PPP) project to upgrade about 1,600 km of state highways and major district roads from single lane to two lane in Madhya Pradesh. Besides, an additional investment of $286 million will be mobilised through private sector participation under the PPP model. The deal is expected to open a new partnership by introducing PPP through HAM, thereby leveraging government financing and improving the sustainability of capital investments.
