Cabinet grants approval for Mou between India and UK for energy self sufficiency in Railways

The cabinet has given the MoR its approval for signing an MoU with the Department for International Development (UK government) for enabling energy self-sufficiency for IR. The MoU underlines various activities that will be undertaken by the two bodies for energy planning including taking up solar and wind energy projects, adopting energy efficiency practices, enabling fuel efficiency, adopting battery-operated shunting locomotives, etc.
