Commercial operations begin on Davangere-Harihar section of the Chikjajur-Harihar-Hubbali line doubling project

Commercial operations on the 13 km Davangere-Harihar section of the Chikjajur-Harihar-Hubbali line doubling project commenced on November 27, 2019. The project involves doubling of an existing 190 km railway line between Chikjajur and Hubballi via Harihar in Karnataka at an investment of Rs 19.3 billion. It is expected to ease traffic congestion on the stretch, reduce commuting time and augment both freight and passenger revenue originating from the respective railway divisions. Under this project, the railway stations of Chikjajur Junction, Sasalu and Mayakonda have been upgraded with new facilities.
