Zurich International selected as concessionaire of Jewar airport

Switzerland-based Zurich Airport International AG was selected as the concessionaire for the Jewar greenfield international airport project in Greater Noida on November 29, 2019. Recently, on December 9, 2019, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved the appointment of the Swiss developer for the airport. The company made the highest fee offer of Rs 400.97 per passenger, outbidding three other competitors – Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), Anchorage Infrastructure Investments Holdings Limited and Delhi International Airport Limited – that had offered to pay Rs 360, Rs 205 and Rs 351 per passenger respectively. Meanwhile, experts from the Wildlife Institute of India will carry out the environment impact assessment study and a conservation plan will be prepared by June 2020. In this regard, an MoU was signed for a period of 10 months in August 2019. The airport will be developed at an investment of Rs 157 billion and will be spread over an area of 5,000 hectares. The first phase will entail an investment of Rs 45.88 billion and is likely to be completed by 2023.
