MoEFCC grants ToR for Cauvery onshore development drilling project

The MoEFCC granted the ToR for the Cauvery onshore development drilling project (24 wells) on November 7, 2019. The proposal for the project was submitted on October 1, 2019. It involves drilling 24 wells in the CY-ONHP-2018/3 block in the Ramanathapuram and Sivaganga districts in Tamil Nadu. The CY-ONHP-2018/3 block in the Cauvery asset off the shallow offshore of the Bay of Bengal was won by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) under the third round of the Open Acreage Licensing Policy at a cost of Rs 6.72 billion. ONGC expects to find 25-30 million tonnes (mt) of oil and oil equivalent of gas reserves through drilling of the wells.
