The central government is expected to inaugurate Kalaburagi airport on November 22, 2019. Spread across 740 acres of land, the airport has been developed at a cost of Rs 1.75 billion. It was approved in March 2007 and the contract for its execution was awarded to IRM Developers on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis.
