IndiGo placed order for 300 Airbus aircraft and enters codeshare with Qatar Airways

IndiGo has placed an order for 300 Airbus aircraft worth an estimated $33 billion to replace old planes in its fleet and to operate non-stop flights to long-haul destinations such as London and Tokyo. The order, one of the biggest placed by the carrier, is for a mix of A320neo, A321neo and A321XLR (extra-long range) aircraft. The timeline for delivery of the aircraft has not been indicated. In another development, the airline signed a one-way code-share agreement with Qatar Airways, thereby allowing the Middle Eastern airline to get greater access to the fast growing Indian market. The agreement will enable Qatar Airways to place its code on IndiGo flights between Doha and Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
